About the AFLPO
Our Mission
The American Friends of the London Philharmonic Orchestra supports the Orchestra’s international touring program, educational projects, and a wide array of musical activities in both London and the United States. Funds raised by AFLPO help the Orchestra initiate and strengthen existing programs, and maintain its high standard of musical excellence. Donations to the AFLPO are deductible for United States federal income tax purposes to the extent permitted by law.
The AFLPO dedication to education can been seen through programs such as the Master Classes and Young Artists Series that we help sponsor.
Each year, the AFLPO has a Gala that features great performances by LPO musicians and guest artists. Our Events page has photos from past Galas and information about upcoming events to be hosted by the AFLPO.

Our History
The American Friends of the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Inc. was originally incorporated on September 3, 1968 as a U.S. 501(c)(3) charitable organization named the London Philharmonic Society (U.S.A.) Inc. Its first President was The Earl of Shaftesbury, and its first Secretary–Treasurer was Harvey Spear, Esq., who has thereafter remained active as a Board member and the pro bono administrator of the charity since its inception.
In 2005 an Amended Certificate of Incorporation was filed with the New York Department of State on November 16, 2006 at which time the name of the organization was changed to the American Friends of the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Inc. New By–Laws were created and a large grant for U.S. touring was processed on behalf of an American–based donor.
The London Philharmonic Orchestra’s U.S. Tours have been generously supported by Dunard Fund.
